Questions for Publisher:

Do we need non-copyrighted pictures for the following pictures in the book which I took from the internet? Branch Rickey, Lou Holtz video cover, Aesop's Fable - Lion and the Mouse, Henry David Thoreau, and Wu Sun Tzu (Master Sun).

Do you have any of these available as non-copyrighted pictures or graphics? If we do need permission and you don't have them, then I'd suggest removing them from the book. I hate to do that because they are few and fit well in their places.

Please let me know!

Thanks,

Corky

April 15, 2008: John, here's the complete book text with the graphics removed. I'm assuming that the tables are not considered graphics, right? Thanks!

April 14, 2008: Hi again! I've added another checklist for recuriting (Interview Questions) to the Exhibit Section today. I've reposted the 4/13/08 version. Thanks!

4/13/08 Updated Version in Word 2007

1/16/08 Updated Version

April 13, 2008: Hi John! I've uploaded the complete version above, dated 4/13/08, which includes the following:

  • All the grammatical corrections that I've found to date, corrected but not marked. Didn't seem necessary to mark grammatical and spelling corrections because it was so hard to read.
  • I've added sections to even up the chapters. The large pieces that I've added are in red. Little additions for smoothing the text, etc. aren't marked.
  • I've put it back in Word 2007 (finally got my disk from Microsoft!) and updated the Index and the Table of Contents.
  • I've added several checklists to the Exhibit Section.
  • I'm suggesting that we ask Richard Mendenhall to write the Foreward. What's your thought about that?

Will talk to you tomorrow morning after your office training. Thanks!

April 1, 2008: Hi John! Here are my updates for Chapters 3 and 7. I need to add a conclusion paragraph to the budgeting chapter.

January 16, 2008: Here's the draft which I've read cover to cover, updated the index and the table of contents. I've added a "mentoring" section and removed the mentoring chapter which makes it a complete 21 chapters. I hope that's okay with you. If you still want to do a mentoring chapter, we can do that. Please send your ideas for it. If you like what I've done, that's fine too. It's back in Word 2007 format.

I'm leaving town early tomorrow morning and will be back Tuesday night. I won't be able to work on it any more until I get back, so that gives you time hopefully to get through it. Thanks!!!

January 14, 2008, 10:48 pm: I've gone cross-eyed and have proofed through page 70. Half way was my goal for today and I've just about made it. There are still a couple of chapters needing additional work, but I'll do that later. My goal for tomorrow is to get through the rest. I'll be on the road from Thursday morning through Tuesday evening next week, so I want to get thru tomorrow. Above is the version from today. I've been working on it in Word 2003, so I haven't updated either the Table of Contents or the Index. I'll do that in 2007 when I finish tomorrow night.

January 14, 2008: Sorry! Didn't realize that I'd loaded the .pdf format. Here's the Word format.
January 9, 2008
: Here's Draft One. I'm obviously still working on it. I had to write three more chapters since we last spoke. We had not chapter for Living and Breathing by a Budget, Running your Business Like a Business, and Failing to seek and Create Opportunities (which I've currently got as the Bonus Chapter because it's a forward looking chapter). I'm still working on all three as well as working on editing all of the chapters, updating the Table of Contents as I go, and updating the Index as I go. I hope you like what we have so far and I'll be putting up new versions probably daily or every couple of days until I finish my initial draft editing and correcting. For ease in keeping it current, why don't you send me any sections that you edit, add, etc. and let me put them in the "whole" so that we don't lose anything! I'm getting excited about the "whole" and am pleased with it, not counting all the editing that still needs to be done. Let me know what you think.... Also, let's keep a log here on this page so that we can trace our progress. I'll add your emails by date so that we have all of our comments, thoughts, and suggestions in one place. We do this at our church with the web team and it works really well! Thanks!
